According to the Official Dispatch of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, the assessment of the Dong Thap Provincial Hydrometeorological Station on the April 2026 hydrometeorological forecast shows that the water level in the province is mainly affected by the East Sea tide and tends to gradually decrease towards the end of the month; the common water level is approximately to lower than the same period in 2025 (about 0.1 - 0.2 m).
Currently, it is the peak of the dry season, the water level of rivers, canals, and ditches in Dong Thap province has a fairly large fluctuating tidal amplitude; especially in aquaculture areas, there is a large difference between the water level in ponds and adjacent rivers, canals, and ditches.
Faced with the above situation, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province has requested agencies and units to implement a series of tasks to strengthen management, proactively take measures to ensure infrastructure safety, and minimize risks for aquaculture and aquaculture areas in the dry season of 2026.

Accordingly, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment is directed to closely monitor meteorological and hydrological developments, forecast bulletins, and warnings about water levels on canals and ditches, especially in aquaculture areas in the province.
The unit needs to promptly provide information to agencies, units, localities and people to proactively implement effective response measures to ensure safety in production and daily life.
The Department presides over and coordinates with specialized agencies and commune-level People's Committees to regularly inspect and supervise the implementation of the commercial pangasius farming area management plan in the province that has been approved; ensure compliance with legal regulations and in accordance with farming area planning, land use planning, transport infrastructure planning, irrigation that has been approved by competent authorities when investing in infrastructure (digging ponds, building embankments and other essential infrastructure) to serve farming.
At the same time, resolutely handle violations of land use purposes, encroachment on the safety corridor of irrigation works in the process of investing in infrastructure serving animal husbandry; force violating organizations and individuals to remedy the consequences according to regulations.
The Department of Construction strengthens inspection and supervision of compliance with legal regulations on the management of the safety corridor scope of waterways and roads under decentralized management adjacent to aquaculture areas; promptly detect and strictly handle violations, and force violating organizations and individuals to remedy consequences in accordance with regulations.
Commune and ward People's Committees urgently direct specialized agencies to organize inspections and closely supervise the compliance with the management plan for commercial pangasius farming areas in the assigned management area.
