Speaking at the 2025 business and investor meeting conference organized by Can Tho City on July 23, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Lam - Director of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Mekong Delta branch - said that Can Tho is the first locality in the country to organize a business meeting conference right after the merger of administrative units. This shows the openness and determination of the city's leaders in accompanying the business community.
According to Mr. Lam, the city needs to clearly plan a development strategy in accordance with the new context. After merging administrative units, the overall development plan will have many changes, which need to be reviewed and adjusted promptly. The city also needs to soon issue a specific action program to effectively implement Resolution 68 and other important resolutions, creating a legal foundation and clear orientation for socio-economic development.
Regarding infrastructure, Mr. Lam said that this is a big and urgent problem. The current infrastructure system only meets immediate needs and has not kept up with long-term development requirements. In particular, the urban center area needs to be fully invested in, synchronously connected in transportation, electricity, water, logistics... to create conditions to attract large investors, experts and high-tech enterprises.
Notably, Mr. Lam suggested that the city should step up support for businesses to build brands with the local mark "Made in Can Tho".
According to Mr. Lam, this not only helps businesses increase product value and competitiveness in the market, but also contributes significantly to promoting the city's image. "The benefits of a business can be measured, but the image value that the local brand brings to Can Tho is very large," Mr. Lam emphasized.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Van Lau affirmed that the meeting was an opportunity for the government to listen to and grasp the production and business situation, while promptly removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses. This is also a forum for exchanging and discussing solutions to promote the city's socio-economic development.
In particular, this is the first business conference held after Can Tho City officially operates under the new administrative unit model, demonstrating the government's concern, appreciation and strong commitment to the business community - who have made many important contributions to the city's development.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City hopes to receive many frank comments so that the city can perfect mechanisms and policies, create a more favorable investment environment, and contribute to building Can Tho into a national growth zone, leading the Mekong Delta by 2030.
