The 3rd 220kV Transformer Installation Project Muong Te 220kV Transformer Station has the following scale: Install 01 AT3 220/110/22kV-250MVA transformer; install equipment for 01 total 220kV transformer of AT3; install equipment for 05 roadbeds01 total 110kV transformer AT3, 2 segmentation compartments, 1 communication compartment, 1 communication compartment, 1 circulation circuit compartment); equip control, protection and measurement system, communication and SCADA in accordance with EVN, EVNNPT regulations, comply with the Electrical Equipment Regulations and current regulations. After completion, the 220kV Muong Te Transformer Station will increase its capacity to 750MVA.
The project started on June 30, 2025, and is expected to be energized in the second quarter of 2026. However, due to the urgent nature of the project, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) requires completion in October 2025.

Mr. Le Tuan Anh - Deputy Director of NPTPMB said: The project implementation process encountered many difficulties and challenges due to the Muong Te area's frequent floods, along with the urgent implementation time, construction in the condition that the transformer station was carrying electricity. This is a great pressure for NPTPMB, however, with the close direction of EVNNPT leaders, along with the efforts and determination of project participants with the spirit of "working in 3 shifts, 4 teams, working through holidays, through Tet, through holidays", the project has been completed on schedule as assigned by the Group.
The project, once completed, will be very important to optimize the capacity of hydropower sources in Lai Chau province to the national power system; enhance grid connectivity, reduce capacity losses, improve safety, reliability and stability in the operation of the regional and national power system; create profits for investors, create jobs for workers; contribute to increasing state budget revenue, promote local socio-economic development. The project also contributes to limiting capacity losses in the transmission grid, increasing production and business efficiency of EVN and EVNNPT.

The completion of the project is not only an effort to ensure stable power supply for the Northwest region but also a testament to EVNNPT's high sense of responsibility and determination to overcome difficulties in realizing key tasks of developing national power transmission infrastructure.
