World oil prices today
World gasoline and oil prices fluctuated sharply. At the end of the first trading session of the week (April 13), WTI and Brent oil prices increased by 2.6% and 4.4% respectively.
In yesterday's trading session, at one point Brent oil price increased by more than 8 USD/barrel, WTI oil price increased by more than 9 USD/barrel, showing that concerns about supply are strongly dominating the market.
By this morning's session, both oil commodities simultaneously turned down. At 7:38 am (Vietnam time), WTI crude oil price was at 96.07 USD/barrel, down 3.01 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 3.04%. WTI oil closed the previous trading session at 99.08 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 98 USD/barrel.
Brent oil price was at 96.64 USD/barrel, down 1.41 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.44%. Brent oil price closed the previous trading session at 98.05 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 98.04 USD/barrel.
According to analysts, oil prices turned down after signals that the US and Iran may resume negotiations. US President Donald Trump said that the US is still ready to participate in negotiations to find a solution, and said that Iran is also seeking to resolve the situation.
Currently, both sides have not yet provided specific information about the next steps after the ceasefire agreement is expected to expire on April 22.
Analysts also say that rising energy prices are directly affecting many countries. In the US, consumers are forced to cut spending as gasoline and diesel prices rise to their highest level since mid-2022. A similar situation is also happening in many major economies, increasing inflationary pressure and affecting the global economic recovery momentum.

Tax reduction on gasoline and oil to 0 VND from today
The National Assembly has passed a Resolution on environmental protection tax, value-added tax (VAT), special consumption tax on gasoline, oil and aviation fuel.
Accordingly, the environmental protection tax on gasoline (excluding ethanol), diesel oil, aviation fuel, kerosene and mazut oil is 0 VND. Special consumption tax on all types of gasoline is also reduced to 0%. Gasoline, diesel oil and aviation fuel are not subject to VAT declaration and payment but are still subject to input deductions.
This policy applies from April 16 to June 30.
Business establishments and enterprises importing gasoline, petroleum products (diesel, kerosene, mazut) and aviation fuel are not required to declare and calculate VAT when selling and at the import stage.
In case of emergency, the Government is allowed to adjust (shorten or extend) the application time of this policy, and report to the National Assembly at the nearest session.
In the base price structure of gasoline and oil, VAT accounts for about 7.4%; environmental protection tax 2.7-6%, and special consumption tax 6.7%. Reducing all these taxes to 0 by the end of June is a solution to ensure this year's socio-economic development goals and control inflation.
