World oil prices today
World gasoline and oil prices continue to record notable fluctuations. At the end of yesterday's trading session (April 15), WTI and Brent oil prices increased by 0.01% and 0.15% respectively.
By this morning's session, both oil commodities reversed to decrease. At 8:21 am (Vietnam time), WTI crude oil price was at 90.92 USD/barrel, down 0.37 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.41%. WTI oil closed the previous trading session at 91.29 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 91.31 USD/barrel.
Brent oil price was at 94.65 USD/barrel, down 0.25 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.26%. Brent oil price closed the previous trading session at 94.90 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 94.91 USD/barrel.
Thus, in the past 10 days, from April 6 to April 16, 2026, world oil prices fluctuated strongly in a downward trend, with WTI oil decreasing by about 18.5% and Brent oil decreasing by about 13.2%.
According to analysts, the world gasoline and oil market is in a state of "trance" as supporting and hindering factors intertwine. Concerns about supply disruptions remain, amid signs of cooling tensions between the US and Iran.
45 days after the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the closure of the Hormuz Strait – a strategic transportation route accounting for about 20% of global oil and natural gas (LNG) flow – the volume of ships passing through this area remains very low, only a small part compared to more than 130 trips/day before the conflict broke out.
The disruption of supply in the Middle East is creating great pressure on the global market. At the same time, US blockades of ships leaving Iranian ports continue to paralyze the country's maritime transport activities.
However, some positive signs have appeared as the number of oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz began to increase again, although the total flow is still significantly lower than normal.
