World oil price today
World oil prices today recovered slightly after a sharp decline. At 11:14 (Vietnam time), WTI crude oil was at 69.06 USD/barrel, up 0.12 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.17%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 68.93 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 69.14 USD/barrel.
Brent oil was at 72.63 USD/barrel, up 0.13 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.18%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 72.61 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 72.61 USD/barrel.
World oil prices have just experienced a sharp decline in trading session. At the end of the session on February 25, Brent and WTI crude oil prices decreased by 2.4% and 2.5%, respectively, to the lowest level in 2 months.
Reuters cited data from the US showing that the country's consumer confidence in February fell the most in three and a half years, in the context of expectations of soaring 12-month inflation.
Analysts say President Donald Trump's plan to increase tariffs has raised inflation concerns at the US Federal Reserve (Fed), which could keep the agency's interest rates higher. This risks slowing economic growth and leading to a decline in energy demand.
Another factor that could affect oil prices is the likelihood of a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. If this happens, sanctions against Russia could be lifted, paving the way for unrestricted oil supplies from the country to return to the market.
