On the morning of June 27, 2025, in Hanoi, the Customs Department held a launching ceremony for the application "Vietnam Customs Data" to replace traditional paper reporting by a digital platform providing real-time import-export data. This is an important step in the digital transformation roadmap of the Customs sector, serving the management work of the leaders of the Party, State and ministries and branches.
The application provides updated data by day, week and accumulated up to the time of reporting, presented in the form of visual tables and charts. Users can access anytime, anywhere to track and analyze information for management and direction of operations. In the immediate future, the system will be deployed to the leaders of the Ministry of Finance, the leaders of the Customs Department, consulting units and a number of relevant agencies.
According to the representative of the Customs Department, the current paper reporting system faces many limitations in terms of delays, readiness and operating costs. Meanwhile, the data of the Customs sector has been "cleaned" in quantity, "clean" in quality, ready to switch to a more modern supply method.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Finance Bui Van Khang emphasized that the operation of Vietnam Customs Data is the result of the spirit of innovation and determination to transform digitally in the entire Finance - Customs sector. The application not only serves administrative reform but also supports the Government in managing the macro economy with complete, timely and accurate data.
The Deputy Minister suggested continuing to improve the application in a flexible manner, connecting with other digital platforms of the Finance sector, ministries, branches and localities for effective exploitation. At the same time, encourage the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in management and processing of big data to improve information quality and ensure data security.
Director of the Customs Department Nguyen Van Tho affirmed that digital transformation is a key task of the industry in the coming period. The operation of the Vietnam Customs Data application not only improves management efficiency, but also demonstrates the determination to implement the Partys major policies, especially Resolution 57-NQ/TW on science, technology development and national digital transformation.
After the launching ceremony, the application will continue to be widely deployed to units under the Ministry of Finance and authorities that need to use data in direction and operation. The Customs Department also encourages staff and units to give feedback to improve and upgrade the application in the coming time.
