On January 7, at Sao Mai - Vam Cong Industrial Park (Lap Vo District, Dong Thap Province), the construction of the US Seafood Processing Factory with a scale of creating jobs for more than 2,000 workers was started. Mr. Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Dong Thap Province - and representatives of the departments and branches of Dong Thap Province attended.
The factory was built on an area of nearly 24,000 m2 with a total investment of nearly 700 billion VND by the Multinational Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (IDI). This is the third factory of this enterprise. The factory is equipped with a production line of equipment completely imported from Europe, with an automatic material loading process and a modern freezing system. After 12-14 months of construction, the factory went into operation with a capacity of 120 tons of raw materials/day.
It is known that currently, Dong Thap province has 28 enterprises operating in the field of seafood processing with a total designed capacity of over 500,000 tons/year, mainly processing frozen pangasius fillets for export with a turnover ratio of nearly 40% of the country. The enterprises have participated in creating jobs for more than 25,000 workers.
