Due to the impact of storm No. 10 (Bualoi), Hanoi's prolonged heavy rain caused many streets to be deeply flooded, with a series of garden and crop areas submerged in water.
On Le Quang Dao Street, Duong Noi Ward (Hanoi), about 8 hectares of peach trees were flooded up to half the trunk. Dozens of households had to busy clearing the flow and install pipes to pump and drain water, but were still worried when the heavy rain had not stopped.

Ms. Duong Thi Thuy, the owner of the Duong Noi peach garden, could not hide her anxiety when many trees in the garden had watered their roots, yellow, and leafy leaves: "We have been planting for many years, there are fields that are decades old, not new. If the garden is flooded for a long time, my family could lose up to billions of VND".

In the same situation, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuyen of Duong Noi ward said that the flooding started last night and up to now, many peach trees have shown signs of rot: "The peach trees are in the "let-down" stage, that is, forming small flower buds to prepare for Tet. But with storms like this, the peach trees cannot be moved. After only 1-2 days of flooding, the tree will rot. Many years of effort in fertilizing are considered a total loss, many trees have had to be cut down".

According to Ms. Xuyen, in the past, peach growing in this area rarely occurred in flooding, and people did not have to pump water to drain. However, since the construction of Le Quang Dao Street, the drainage system has been slow to operate, causing frequent flooding: "We just hope that the authorities will soon check and expand the drainage culverts so that people can have less hardship".
If the heavy rain continues, the risk of dozens of hectares of peach trees in Duong Noi being damaged is very high. People hope that the government will soon have solutions to fix the drainage system, to avoid repeated flooding, protect the results of many years of fertilization and keep the peach supply for the Tet market.
