According to Lao Dong on July 31, 36 stores of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) in Ho Chi Minh City (before the merger) had tested the sale of E10 gasoline. This is a fuel that contains 10% of ethanol, which is expected to contribute to reducing environmental pollution and gradually replacing traditional fuels.
At a gas station on Hai Ba Trung Street, E10 gasoline has been imported and served to people in need. This gas station also installed an introduction board for E10 biofuel, combined with speakers to communicate to customers about the environmental benefits of E10 gasoline.
However, actual records show that people are still not very interested in this new type of gasoline. Many customers do not know and should be cautious when being introduced. I am still used to using RON 95 gasoline, now that I heard about E10, it is not clear whether it will affect the car or not. If I don't understand clearly, I don't dare to try it" - Ms. Binh Giang, living in Saigon Ward shared.
Some people who have used E5 gasoline before are more open. Mr. Vu Minh Trung, who lives in Thu Duc ward, agreed to try E10 gasoline after being consulted by staff. "I found the car running smoothly, not much different. The price is also cheaper, so I will monitor more and then decide for a long time" - Mr. Trung said.
Representatives of some gas stations in Ho Chi Minh City said that in recent days, there have been no difficulties or negative reactions from customers switching to using this new type of fuel.
"At first, customers were a bit hesitant because they didn't know what E10 gasoline was. But when explained in detail by the staff, especially seeing the cheaper price than RON 95, many people agreed to try it" - said a representative of a gas station on Phan Xich Long Street.
In the coming time, authorities and businesses will continue to monitor market reactions, assess consumption levels and perfect policies before expanding the scale of E10 sales nationwide from January 1, 2026.
