On July 14, the An Giang Provincial Party Committee held a scientific workshop on the orientation of socio-economic development and comments on documents of the An Giang Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Mr. Le Minh Hoan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and many experts, scientists, and managers attended the workshop.
To contribute to completing the socio-economic development orientation of the province, as well as the Political Report submitted to the An Giang Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, An Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai proposed a workshop to focus on discussing and clarifying 10 key groups of issues.
Regarding the development orientation of the province, especially the key tasks and strategic breakthroughs of An Giang province; Major orientations for socio-economic development of An Giang province to 2030, vision 2045; Planning orientation for An Giang province to develop rapidly, harmoniously and sustainably, especially developing Phu Quoc into a special international zone; Integrated approach between the marine, border and inland economy, becoming new growth drivers of An Giang province's economy...

Speaking at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan said: An Giang - Kien Giang merger is not only an expansion in area and boundaries, but a new space of opportunity. An Giang (new) is now both the source and the end of the river; has flooded land and land that is transferred to the sea; is both a production area and a diverse and unique ecosystem.
Mr. Le Minh Hoan said that multi-layered and multi-field integrated agriculture will optimize the value of each unit of area. In particular, restructuring the agricultural sector according to economic thinking, in the era of artificial intelligence and green economic orientation, is an urgent requirement.
An Giang is not only a "material area" but also a "house of new ideas". Agriculture is connected from the mainland to the water surface, from the center to the border, from the plains to the West Sea. In particular, Vinh Te Canal is not only a water channel, but a linked canal of industrialization, forming an inland waterway logistics corridor, associated with clusters linking public and agricultural sectors.
Forming an agricultural economic space connecting the "land - border - West Sea", in which the plains of the Long Xuyen Quadrangle are the core area for experimenting with smart - circular agricultural models. The border area helps take advantage of the advantage of border economy, planning production buffer zone connecting exports to Cambodia; the West Sea combines wind power, high-tech marine farming, deep processing - forming a sustainable seafood value chain.

Mr. Hoan commented that An Giang's marine economy has a lot of room for development, contributing significantly to making our country a " Strong country in the sea, rich from the sea". The marine economy is closely linked to three pillars in the marine economic strategy: "Reducing exploitation - Increasing farming - Conserving the marine".
marine economy realizes the "Triple-Fish Strategy": Fisheries - Fishermen - Fisheries. The marine economy starts with practical solutions to act together to remove the yellow card against IUU fishing.
The orientation of agricultural growth and development in An Giang needs to be connected with the leading role of research institutes and universities, especially in the fields of aquaculture, rice, and climate change. Connecting with international organizations to seek outstanding agricultural cultivation ideas and practical experiences of countries with similar conditions.
Farmers do not just farming and aquaculture, but are guided and accompanied to access the agricultural economy, take the market, technology and cooperation as the center. Above all, the role and position of farmers are repositioned: not only as producers but also as proactive decision makers, willing to adapt to changes, ready to innovate, create, and link.
Mr. Le Minh Hoan emphasized: "Not only discussing and contributing to the documents of the Provincial Party Congress, but delegates attending the workshop together outlined and acted for an An Giang of the next 5 years, the next 10 years and beyond. An Giang will be a locality that thinks newly, renews with natural, flexible and creative flows, with the spirit of innovation and dynamism of the Vinh Te canal in the digital age".
