In Hanoi, many people complained about the sudden increase in electricity bills in June compared to normal. On social networking forums, many people reported an increase in electricity bills of 20-50% even though the weather was not too hot.
In response to this development, the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) said that it has issued a document requesting power corporations to direct power companies to seriously review cases of customers with renewable energy output and unusually increased payment amounts in the June 2025 invoice period.
We must promptly provide information and clear explanations to customers. At the same time, clearly promote the calculation of invoices for June 2025; changes in issuing invoices, contract management and electricity collection of power companies before and after the merger.

Responsible for information processing, EVN assigned the leaders of the power Corporation and the director of the power company to directly direct and discuss with customers or send staff with full knowledge and skills to respond to customer's recommendations when receiving feedback on unusually increased invoices.
Directors of power companies are responsible for the results of handling customer recommendations.
In the context of prolonged hot weather, EVN also hopes to continue to receive the sharing and active coordination of people and customers using electricity through the thorough use of cost-effective electricity, especially during peak hours (from 11:00 - 15:00), evening (from 19:00 - 23:00).
In particular, pay special attention to reasonable use of air conditioners, only turn on air conditioners when really necessary, set the temperature at 26 - 27 degrees or higher.
In fact, the electricity consumption of air conditioners can account for 28 - 64%, even up to 80% of the total electricity consumption of a household, depending on frequency and conditions of use.
Outdoor temperatures also directly affect the air conditioner's electricity consumption. Specifically, every time the environmental temperature increases by 1°C, the electricity consumption of air conditioners increases by about 2 - 3%. If the temperature increases by 5°C, the amount of electricity consumed can increase by about 10%. Therefore, air conditioners will consume more electricity when operating on days with high temperatures (35 - 40°C) than on days with cooler weather (30 - 35°C).
EVN also noted the simultaneous use of many large-capacity electrical equipment during peak hours.
"The thorough use of electricity to save energy also reduces the risk of electrical incidents and limits the situation of high electricity bills," EVN noted.
