Due to the impact of storm No. 4, Dong Hoi airport (Quang Binh province) decided to temporarily suspend operations from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on September 19.

On the morning of September 19, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Director of Dong Hoi Airport Nguyen Thanh Nam said that Dong Hoi airport temporarily stopped operating from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. the same day due to the impact of storm No. 4.

“This morning, it is expected to receive 3 normal flights. The port has deployed to tie down infrastructure, equipment and vehicles, and dredge the drainage system. Notify units to deploy response plans for storm No. 4, with the 4-on-the-spot motto. Organize on-duty forces to be ready to bring the airport back into operation when the storm's impact ends,” said Mr. Nam.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation to direct airports located in the area affected by storm No. 4 (Dong Hoi Airport, Da Nang International Airport, Phu Bai International Airport, Chu Lai Airport and Vinh Airport) to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system... to promptly detect and handle damage (if any) to ensure the safety of works, stations, and ensure safety for operations at airports.

At the same time, arrange 24/7 duty, proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.

Regarding the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested VATM to direct aviation meteorological agencies to continue to regularly monitor and update meteorological bulletins to report to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Aviation Search and Rescue to consider and decide on operations at airports; at the same time, provide timely information to airports, airlines and relevant agencies and units.

According to the Central Hydrometeorological Center, on the morning of September 19, the tropical depression in the northeastern area of ​​Hoang Sa archipelago strengthened into a storm - storm number 4 in 2024.

At 4:00 a.m. the same day, the center of the storm was at about 17.3 degrees North latitude; 109.8 degrees East longitude, 210km northeast of Da Nang, about 260km east of Quang Tri. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 8 (62-74km/h), gusting to level 10; moving mainly west at a speed of about 20km/h.

At 4:00 p.m. on September 19, the storm moved westward at a speed of about 20-25 km/h in coastal waters from Quang Tri to Quang Nam; the strongest wind near the storm center was level 8, gusting to level 10; the natural disaster risk level was level 3. The affected areas were the western sea of ​​the North East Sea (including the Hoang Sa area); the sea from Nghe An to Quang Ngai (including Ly Son island, Cu Lao Cham, Con Co, Hon Ngu); the mainland from Ha Tinh to Quang Nam.
