On April 17, Vietnam Airlines integrated and is ready to deploy the online flight procedures for the entire biometric usage process through the VNeID electronic identification application.
With this step forward, Vietnam Airlines becomes the first airline to apply electronic identification and authentication solutions using biometric identification throughout the entire flight procedures for passengers. These new services will soon be applied on all of the airline's domestic flights.
On April 16 and 17, at domestic terminal T1 of Noi Bai airport and the new terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat airport, Vietnam Airlines coordinated with the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order (C06) - Ministry of Public Security and Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to successfully test the flight procedures integrated on VNeID. The system has fully met security and safety requirements and is ready to be put into wide-scale practical operation as soon as there is approval from the authorities.
The Aviation Service feature integrated on VNeID allows users with a level 2 electronic identification account to perform online, quickly and safely the following operations: buying tickets, checking in, passing through the security control gate and boarding gate in a touchless manner, just with their face taken. The full biometric authentication process helps shorten waiting time, especially during the peak of the Lunar New Year, thereby improving the passenger experience.
Previously, the authentication of identification documents was done manually, causing time-consuming and easy congestion. With biometric identification technology (eKYC) integrated on VNeID, Vietnam Airlines passengers can travel throughout the journey without presenting documents, thanks to an automatic customer facial comparison system with data from the national database. This process strictly complies with regulations on personal data protection.
Vietnam Airlines said that the unit is actively implementing comprehensive digital transformation, and is also a practical step to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Central Government on promoting innovation and developing the digital economy.
