On July 22, in Cao Bang province, leaders of the Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, Finance and Foreign Affairs had a working session with the delegation of Guangxi Investment Group (China) to discuss the potential for cooperation in the field of exploration, exploitation and processing of Bauxite ore.
At the meeting, the two sides focused on discussing the process and policies for Bauxite mineral management. According to information from the Vietnam Geological and Mineral Services Administration, Cao Bang province currently has 27 mines and bauxite ore points with a forecast resource of about 179.5 million tons, distributed in many areas in the province.
Of which, two large Bauxite mines including: Tap Na mine (Thanh Long commune and Tinh Tuc commune) and Dai Tong mine (Tong Cot commune and Lung Nam commune) have been licensed for exploitation, with a total reserve of more than 16.8 million tons - accounting for 9.4% of total forecast resources.
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cao Bang province Nong Quoc Hung emphasized that bauxite is a strategic mineral, identified by the Vietnamese Government as an important field that needs in-depth investment.
Current policies do not allow the export of raw ores, encourage deep processing, use modern, environmentally friendly technology, and at the same time require environmental restoration after exploitation. The Government also creates conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises to participate in exploration and investment according to regulations.
On the side of Quang Tay Investment Group, Mr. Trinh Tam - Head of the ASEAN Cooperation Working Group of the enterprise said that the group currently owns three subsidiaries specializing in the exploitation and processing of electrolyte aluminum with a total output of up to 8 million tons/year. The main source of ore is exploited in the West and Africa.
Mr. Trinh Tam expressed his desire to cooperate with Cao Bang province to explore and exploit Bauxite, and pledged to strictly comply with Vietnamese laws on environment, land recovery after exploitation and related technical conditions.
The two sides also discussed issues such as: licensing authority, cooperation process, legal procedures, energy needs in the processing - electrolying process, industrial waste treatment (red blood), and the possibility of sending technical experts for field surveys.
Concluding the meeting, the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cao Bang province affirmed that the locality is ready to accompany and create favorable conditions for investors.
The province is committed to transparency in legal procedures, support for land fund, transport infrastructure, electricity - water and information connection with central agencies to ensure a stable, long-term investment environment and in accordance with legal regulations.
