Quang Ninh - In the first 10 months of the year, TKV has supplied 32.5 million tons of coal to thermal power plants. TKV affirms its commitment to provide the signed quantity in 2024.

One of the biggest customers of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) is Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).

According to EVN's report, in the first 10 months of 2024, EVN received a total of 20 million tons of coal for electricity production, reaching 84% of the plan, of which TKV provided 13.5 million tons and Dong Bac Corporation provided 6.5 million tons.

TKV and Dong Bac Corporation have provided enough coal for electricity production and ensured the permitted inventory level of thermal power plants. Thanks to that, EVN has ensured sufficient electricity supply for the country's socio-economic development.

Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of 2024, TKV produced 37.8 million tons of coal, reaching 75% of the annual plan; coal supplied for electricity production reached 32.5 million tons, equal to 70.7% of the signed contract volume, equal to 80.8% compared to the coal supply chart of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Of which, coal supplied to EVN reached about 13.5 million tons, equal to 85% compared to the chart. The remaining amount was supplied to BOT thermal power plants and other thermal power plants.

It is expected that in 2024, TKV will consume 47 million tons, of which 39.9 million tons will be coal for electricity production, equivalent to 2023, of which 16.6 million tons will be coal for EVN.

In 2025, TKV will provide 12.76 million tons to BOT power plants and 18.46 million tons to EVN power plants. TKV will continue to strengthen coordination with all parties to ensure effective coal supply for electricity production. At the same time, EVN is requested to increase inventory to the permitted level to proactively provide coal for electricity, forecast coal demand in advance to notify TKV, and properly implement the commitments between the parties in the contract...

Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity Group, in order to ensure coal for electricity production, since September 2024, thermal power units under EVN have worked and negotiated with TKV and Dong Bac Corporation on the supply contract for 2025. Up to now, the parties have basically completed negotiations and are submitting to competent authorities to officially sign the contract in November 2024.
