
The document awarding ceremony between Vietnam vaccination company VNVC and GSK Vietnam, under GSK - Anh global biofarmaceutical Group, took place in London (UK) under the witness of General Secretary To Lam and Government Trade Special Envoy Matt Western. The event took place within the framework of General Secretary To Lam's official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and upgraded the Vietnam - UK relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
According to the agreement, VNVC and GSK will cooperate to rapidly promote access to advanced drugs and vaccines developed by GSK, especially by bringing new types of specific drugs produced at modern factories, GSK's global strategy in Worthing and barnard Castle (UK) to Vietnam early, while opening up opportunities to promote cooperation in clinical research and exchange experiences in vaccine production. From there, VNVC can independently produce and supply important vaccines in the future at the VNVC Vaccin and Biological Factory.

This signing is expected to open up cooperation opportunities worth an estimated £500 million (estimated at nearly VND17,000 billion) in the next 5 years.
At the document handover ceremony within the framework of the Vietnam - UK Summit, General Secretary To Lam outlined three key areas of cooperation between Vietnam and the UK in the new era. Accordingly, the first focus is to promote research and development (R&D) cooperation between universities and research institutes of enterprises of the two countries specializing in research on the application of artificial intelligence (AI), big data, smart energy, healthcare, chemical engineering and transformative strategic technologies. Second, increase investment and exchange of high-level experts, promote the development of AI application and digital transformation in key economic sectors. Third is to support businesses of the two countries to expand investment, share data and implement comprehensive technology cooperation programs.
The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam is ready to be a trusted partner of the UK in technology development, innovation, bringing practical value to the people of the two countries and making positive contributions to the region and the world. The two governments will also strengthen coordination, encourage forms of cooperation, research, training and technology transfer, contributing to deepening the Vietnam - UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The event demonstrated the remarkable development and upgrading of the relationship between private enterprises representing the two countries in taking advantage of breakthrough policy leverage in international cooperation, investing in the development of science and technology, private economy and strengthening the health care of the people of the Politburo, Government and Ministry of Health of Vietnam.
Mr. Ngo Chi Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Vietnam vaccines company VNVC and VNVC Vaccines and Biological Factories, said that VNVC and GSK have had a comprehensive strategic cooperation relationship and coordinated to bring many new-generation vaccines to Vietnam, contributing significantly to ending the vaccine shortage for children and adults in Vietnam.

Ms. Kaja Natland, Senior Vice President of GSK Asia Pacific, International, said: With a solid foundation of cooperation, GSK aims to work with VNVC to create a positive impact on the health of more than one-third of the Vietnamese population in the next 5 years, in line with GSK's mission of unifying science, technology and talent to jointly defeat diseases.
Previously, in October 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, with the witness of Deputy Consul General of the UK in Ho Chi Minh City William Lawrenson, VNVC, Tam Anh General Hospital System and GSK Vietnam had a high-level working program and signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation on access to new drugs and vaccines, promoting clinical research as well as exchanging knowledge in vaccine production.
