What is red light therapy?
Red light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses red light or infrared light with low waveforms (about 630 - 850 nanometers) to stimulate cell regeneration, improve blood circulation and reduce inflammation.
Red light and the ability to stimulate hair growth
A study published in the Journal of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine showed that people treated with red light had a hair growth rate of up to 37%.
Another study in the journal Annals of Dermatology confirmed that 650 nanometre red light waves are the most effective and safe method in stimulating hair growth.
Reasons for effective red light therapy hair growth
- Increase cellulose energy (ATP) production
Red light is absorbed by hair follicle cells, stimulating the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) - the main source of energy for cells. Thanks to that, metabolism is enhanced, helping to nourish and restore hair follicles more effectively.
- Improve blood circulation in the scalp
The energy from red light helps dilate blood vessels, increasing the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the hair roots. Thanks to that, hair follicles are better nourished, helping hair grow thick, strong and firm.
- Extends hair growth phase
Hair grows most strongly during the anagen stage. Red light therapy prolongs this phase, while delaying the loss process (catagen and telogen), helping to increase hair density and hairline length.
- Reduces inflammation, improves scalp health
Inflammation around hair follicles is the cause of weak and prone to hair loss. Red light reduces inflammation, stimulates tissue regeneration and creates a healthier scalp environment, favorable for hair growth.
