Proactively approach and mobilize businesses
According to the data of the Organizing and Inspection Department (Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor), the total number of union members in Tien Giang province is currently 138,781, with 1,387 grassroots unions. As of October 31, all levels of unions in Tien Giang province have developed 8,002 new union members.
Ms. Huynh Kim Thoa - Trade Union of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Giang province - said that currently, there are only small and medium-sized enterprises in the area. To develop union members in the above enterprises, the leaders of the Trade Union of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Giang province have approached business owners to mobilize union members and establish grassroots unions. In the first 10 months of 2024, the unit has developed more than 300 new union members.
Mr. Dang Van Chien - Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Tien Giang Province - said that in order to develop union members and establish grassroots unions in enterprises, in recent times, the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Tien Giang Province has coordinated with the Management Board of Industrial Parks and related units to proactively approach and propagate to employers and employees to clearly understand the activities of the Trade Union organization and the rights and responsibilities when becoming a trade union member.Thereby, it has attracted workers to apply to join the Trade Union organization.
According to Mr. Chien, in the first 10 months of 2024, the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Tien Giang Province has increased by about 4,500 union members.
Practical care to attract union members to join the Union
Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor Le Minh Hung informed that to achieve the goal of developing union members and establishing new grassroots unions, Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor has established a Steering Committee for developing union members and establishing grassroots unions.
Accordingly, the Steering Committee will assist the Standing Committee of the Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor in developing implementation plans for the entire term and each year; urge and support trade unions at all levels in the area in carrying out the above tasks. At the same time, the Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor will advise the Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee to direct Party committees at all levels to strengthen leadership in developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions, building strong trade union organizations; and training and fostering trade union cadres at all levels.
Mr. Hung said that the specific solution for Tien Giang to achieve the above goal is that for units and enterprises that have not yet established a Trade Union, the Trade Union at the direct superior level will coordinate with functional sectors, localities, etc. to approach employers, creating conditions for trade union officials to meet with workers to promote and mobilize them to join the Trade Union and establish a grassroots trade union at the enterprise.
"To attract union members and establish a grassroots trade union, the Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to improve the quality of care, representation, and protection of workers' rights, considering this a top priority task, a regular activity, and needing to prioritize and focus all resources so that workers can clearly see the practical benefits of joining a Trade Union," said Mr. Hung.
