The Asian Volleyball Championship - AVC Cup 2026 will take place from June 6 to 14 in the Philippines with the participation of 12 teams including Vietnam, Philippines, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Taiwan (China) and Hong Kong (China).
Entering the tournament as the defending champion, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team continues to be considered one of the top candidates for the highest position.
Before leaving, the coaching staff finalized the list of 14 athletes to participate in the tournament. The whole team has a preparation process lasting many weeks with the goal of maintaining their position in the continental arena.
However, the journey to defend the title of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team is predicted to be not easy, as many opponents have invested in forces and have made careful preparations.
Not only facing professional pressure, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team also faces challenges from the schedule. According to the organizers' arrangement, the team's group stage matches all take place at 8 am (Vietnam time). This is a rather special time frame because most international tournaments usually take place in the afternoon or evening.
To adapt to the new competition conditions, the coaching staff has adjusted the training plan. In the past time, more training sessions were arranged in the morning to help players get used to the rhythm of life and exercise intensity during official match hours.
Assessing this year's tournament, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said that AVC Cup 2026 will be highly competitive as many teams are investing heavily in personnel and preparation work.
The coach of the Vietnamese women's team affirmed that the whole team will focus maximally on each match, and at the same time strive to best promote professional ability to aim for the highest results.
