On February 23, the Department of Home Affairs of Ca Mau province said that the election day for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels, term 2026–2031 in the province is set for March 15. Specifically in Hon Khoai and Hon Chuoi island clusters, election work will be held early on March 13, 2 days before the general time for the whole province.
On the same day, Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi had a working session with the Department of Home Affairs on the situation of deploying the preparation for the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels. At the working session, provincial leaders requested relevant agencies and units to closely follow the plan, ensure progress and fully comply with procedures according to the provisions of law.
According to Director of the Department of Home Affairs Tran Huu Phuoc, up to this point, the steps to implement election work in Ca Mau province have basically taken place on schedule. The Provincial Party Committee has established an Election Steering Committee of 41 members, headed by the Provincial Party Secretary. The Provincial People's Committee has established 5 National Assembly Deputy Election Committees and 18 Provincial People's Council Deputy Election Committees.

At the grassroots level, the People's Committees of communes and wards have established commune-level election committees and 1,604 election teams, each team with 11 to 21 members. The Provincial Police have completed the issuance of seals to organizations in charge of elections from provincial to commune levels and election teams, creating favorable conditions for the implementation of tasks.
The work of collecting opinions and confidences from voters at the place of residence for candidates was carried out seriously and in the correct order. The results showed that most candidates received high confidence from voters.
Through the 3rd consultation, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province has agreed on the list of 23 people eligible to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term, of which the Central Government introduced 5 people, and localities introduced 18 people, to elect 13 deputies. At the same time, the list of 127 people running for provincial People's Council deputies for the 2026–2031 term has also been agreed, to elect 73 deputies. For the commune level, the whole province has 2,482 candidates, electing 1,469 commune-level People's Council deputies.
The whole province currently has 18 provincial-level electoral units, 485 commune-level electoral units and 1,604 polling stations that have been announced. According to the plan, before February 27, the province will complete professional training, list official candidates, distribute ballots and documents to serve the election.
Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee requested relevant units to continue to carefully review the conditions for organizing early elections in Hon Khoai and Hon Chuoi, ensuring that the election takes place democratically, safely and in accordance with the law.
