The Korean Journalists Association visits the Vietnam Journalists Association, exchanging views on press cooperation, artificial intelligence and changes in the media environment.

On September 7, a delegation of the Korean Journalists Association led by Mr. Park Jong Hyun, Chairman of the Korean Journalists Association, paid a courtesy visit to the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Receiving the delegation were Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, along with leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association and a number of Vietnamese press agencies.

Speaking at the reception, Mr. Le Quoc Minh welcomed the delegation of the Korean Journalists Association to visit Vietnam, and emphasized that the relationship between the two associations has been increasingly strengthened in recent years, through many visits and working sessions between the two sides.

According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Vietnamese journalism has many things to learn from Korea, a country with a developed press. In the current context, the world press is facing many similar challenges, in which the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and rapid changes in the media environment are prominent.

Public confidence in the press is still high, but the press also needs to continue to innovate, finding more attractive and effective ways of communication," said Mr. Le Quoc Minh.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that after the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vietnam Journalists Association has made efforts to reconnect and strengthen relations with press organizations and journalist associations around the world, especially focusing on promoting relations with organizations in the ASEAN region.

The Korean Journalists Association also has connection activities with the ASEAN Journalists Federation. According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, the participation and exchange of delegations of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese journalists at ASEAN press activities will contribute to expanding exchanges between press organizations in the region.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh added that, from the initiative of the Vietnam Journalists Association, press cooperation in the region in the past time has not only limited to expertise and nghiệp vụ but also expanded to cultural and sports activities.

In 2024, the Thai Journalists Association came to Vietnam to participate in the football tournament. At this year's National Press Festival, ASEAN regional journalist delegations also participated in the Expanded Journalist Singing Festival.

Thanking the reception of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Mr. Park Jong Hyun said that the relationship between Vietnam and Korea in general, and between the two journalist associations in particular, is increasingly developing.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Korean Journalists Association sent congratulations to Vietnam on National Day September 2nd, and also congratulated the 101st anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and the 81st anniversary of the establishment of Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

Referring to recent changes in Vietnam, Mr. Park Jong Hyun said that the delegation of the Korean Journalists Association is interested in Vietnam's annexation of localities, and at the same time arranging and merging press agencies.

He said that the visit is an opportunity for the delegation to learn more about new models being implemented in the field of Vietnamese journalism, thereby enhancing understanding and sharing experiences between journalists of the two countries.
