SBV launches support for people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 10

Responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the SBV launched a campaign for the entire industry to donate at least 1 day's salary to help people overcome the consequences of storm No. 10.

In order to promote the spirit of "mutual love" to join hands to help people in localities affected by storm No. 10, on October 6, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a launching ceremony to support people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 10.

Attending the ceremony were Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong, Deputy Governors, representatives of leaders of Departments, Departments, units, and public service units in Hanoi.

Timely calling on all levels, sectors, localities, organizations and individuals to promote the spirit of "mutual love and support" to join hands to help people in localities affected by storm No. 10, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) held a launching ceremony and issued a call to support people to overcome the damage, in which each cadre, civil servant, public employee and salary earner from the state budget was mobilized to donate at least one day's salary or more.

Accordingly, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong suggested that immediately after this ceremony, Heads of units mobilize 100% of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers under their units to spend at least 1 day's salary and income in October 2025 to support people affected by storm No. 10 to contribute to supporting people and localities to quickly overcome the consequences of the storm and soon stabilize their lives.

In addition, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers can donate in cash or other forms of support.

In recent times, the banking sector has always been proactive and proactive in supporting and removing difficulties for people and businesses affected by natural disasters. In 2024, the entire banking sector donated more than 85 billion VND to people affected by natural disasters.

In 2024, the SBV launched a program to support people affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi) with a minimum contribution of 1 day's salary and income and received positive support from cadres, civil servants and workers in the system; TCTDs have also spent more than 40 billion VND to support affected localities. From 2020 to now, the banking sector has donated over 500 billion VND to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and floods. The contribution of the banking sector has made an important contribution to the entire political system in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and ensuring social security for the people.

In order to remove difficulties for people and businesses affected by storm No. 10, the SBV issued Official Letter No. 8622/NHNN-TD dated October 2, 2025, requesting:

Credit institutions proactively review and support customers who borrow capital to suffer losses through restructuring repayment terms, considering interest exemptions and reductions, new loans to restore production, and handling debts in accordance with current regulations; instructing customers to complete procedures when they need to handle debts.

SBV branches in the regions direct and supervise the implementation of support from credit institutions in the area; coordinate with local authorities to advise on solutions to support people to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.

Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods

Consecutive storms No. 8, 9, 10 (Bualoi) and floods caused by the storm have killed, left missing, and injured 165 people; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern mountainous provinces and the central provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
