On the afternoon of May 4, in Hanoi, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) held a press conference to inform and introduce the 11th National Congress of the VFF, term 2026-2031 (Congress).
At the press conference, answering reporters' questions from Lao Dong Newspaper about the content, over the past time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has effectively implemented emulation movements and campaigns. So, in the context that the country is facing unforeseen developments of natural disasters, does the Vietnam Fatherland Front have plans to implement new campaigns or adjust the content of existing campaigns to suit new social issues, or unusual weather developments?
Mr. Cao Xuan Thao - Member of the Presidium, Head of the Social Work Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, said that in the period 2024-2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has achieved many outstanding results in social security work. Encouraging all classes of people to emulate, be creative, and effectively implement major campaigns and patriotic emulation movements.
In which, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and member organizations at all levels have mobilized millions of households to voluntarily donate more than 98.2 million m2 of land, contributing tens of thousands of billions of VND and working days in new rural construction; proactively propagating and mobilizing people to implement the "Digital Education for All" movement associated with the task of digital transformation in new rural construction, many localities have had typical and creative models and ways of doing things.
Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and member organizations continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of implementing the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
Member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front actively and effectively implemented campaigns and emulation movements with good models and creative ways of doing things, closely following the major policies of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front, receiving community attention such as the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor promoting the movement "Good labor - Creative labor", responding to movements launched by the Prime Minister such as the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen power line project; Vietnam Farmers' Association with the movement "Good farmers in production and business", protecting the rural environment; Vietnam Women's Union with the movement "Building a new era woman", the campaign "Building a 5-no, 3-clean family", "Creative entrepreneurial women"...
In particular, in response to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" launched by the Prime Minister, Chairman of the Central Emulation and Commendation Council in coordination with the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and member organizations have closely coordinated with State agencies at the central and local levels, organizing calls, mobilization, and determination to strive to reach the finish line ahead of schedule.
With the efforts of the Vietnam Fatherland Front system, it has contributed to the Government, levels, and sectors to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide 4 months ahead of schedule compared to the target when launched; eliminated 334,234 temporary and dilapidated houses; mobilized over 24,700 billion VND and more than 2.7 million working days for support. Completed the goal of building 5,500 "Great Unity" houses to donate to ethnic minorities and poor households in Dien Bien province and some provinces in the Northwest before schedule...
Faced with the damage caused by natural disasters and storms, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized a launching ceremony and called for the joint support of compatriots nationwide, overseas Vietnamese and the international community to support overcoming damage caused by storm No. 3 in 2024 (international name Yagi) over 5,300 billion VND; supporting people affected by storm No. 10 in 2025 (international name Bualoi) and supporting people affected by floods in the Central region with an amount of over 4,200 billion VND, and has allocated support to localities and people affected.
The publicity and transparency in mobilization and support have been recognized and supported by the whole society.
According to Mr. Cao Xuan Thao, in the face of the new situation, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has proposed breakthrough solutions in the Draft Political Report submitted at the XI Congress, which plans to launch the movement "All people join hands to protect the environment for a green, clean, and beautiful Vietnam" immediately after the Congress.
The implementation of this movement will closely coordinate with the Government to fundamentally improve the environmental situation, creating a foundation for sustainable economic development.
Social security activities will continue to be implemented, under the leadership of the Party and the management of the Government, in which the Vietnam Fatherland Front plays a core role in calling for the participation of the people and the support of the community. At the same time, maximize the application of digital technology, build a "Civil Society Interaction Map" to survey and simulate all needs and risks of people in difficult areas and disaster-stricken areas, thereby strengthening rapid response capabilities and organizing more effective community mobilization when emergencies occur.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front will strengthen the assignment and coordination with member organizations such as the Vietnam Red Cross Society to create a spreading effect and best efficiency in social security work" - Mr. Cao Xuan Thao said.
