In response to the complicated developments of storm No. 12, the Central Central Region Hydrometeorological Station has just issued a warning of widespread heavy rain in Da Nang city and neighboring areas.
In particular, from the afternoon of October 22 to October 27, due to the influence of the storm's circulation combined with increased cold air, East winds and post-storm disturbances, Da Nang is forecast to have a prolonged heavy rain with total rainfall ranging from 400 - 700mm, some places exceeding 900mm.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of natural disasters due to heavy rain at level 1 - 2. During this rain, there is a high possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localities need to pay special attention to the risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, along with flooding in low-lying areas and the inner city.
According to the forecast, the whole city has 21 points at high risk of heavy rain and flooding. In particular, the city center such as Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Cam Le, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Hoa Khanh are areas that are likely to be deeply flooded if the rain continues. Suburban areas such as Hoa Tien, Hoa Xuan, Hoa Vang, Hai Van, and Ba Na commune are also under warning when water rises rapidly in rivers and streams and low-lying residential areas.
In addition, this rain will also affect many neighboring localities such as Tam Ky, Thang Binh, Hoi An, Dien Ban, Dai Loc, Nui Thanh, Tien Phuoc, Tra My, Kham Duc, which are warned of heavy rainfall, high risk of landslides and flooding. These areas are often affected by storm circulation and have complex terrain, easily caused by flash floods.

The meteorological agency, the People's Committee of Da Nang City and the City Civil Defense Committee recommend that people in high-risk areas should closely monitor forecasts and proactively take preventive measures such as tying up houses, stocking food reserves, checking drainage systems, especially not going through deep flooded areas and landslides during prolonged heavy rain. Units and localities need to prepare response forces and means, organize 24/7 duty to promptly handle incidents.
In the context of increasingly complex extreme weather, early warning and proactive response are considered decisive factors to minimize damage to people and property. The government, functional forces and people of Da Nang need to raise vigilance, coordinate closely, and implement the "four on-site" motto well to ensure safety and minimize risks caused by natural disasters.
