Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that from October 20 to 22, the cold air will be strengthened, affecting other places in the Northeast and North Central regions, then affecting some places in the northwest of the Ministry and the Central Central region. On land, the wind will shift to the northeast level 2 - 3, coastal areas level 3 - 4.
"From the night of October 20, the North and Thanh Hoa will have cold nights and mornings, and the mountainous areas will be cold," said Mr. Huong.
Regarding the lowest temperature in this cold air mass, according to the meteorological agency, in the Northern Delta and Thanh Hoa, it is generally 19 - 21 degrees Celsius, in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, it is 17 - 19 degrees Celsius, in the high mountains, some places are below 16 degrees Celsius.
"In the North, we believe that there will still be sunshine during the day, so the temperature during the day will be around 27 - 28 degrees Celsius. The cold and frost only occur at night and in the morning, and during the day it will be dry weather" - Mr. Huong analyzed.

Meanwhile, due to the influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the high-altitude easterly wind zone, in the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai, there will be rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.
Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
Localized heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes; heavy rain in a short period of time can cause flooding in urban areas and industrial parks.
A representative of the meteorological agency said that cold air also affects the sea weather. On the day and night of October 20, due to the influence of cold air combined with the circulation of storm No. 12, the northern East Sea area has strong northeast winds of level 7 - 8; the area near the storm's center has strong winds of level 9-11, gusts of level 13, waves 3-5 m high, the area near the storm's center has 5-7 m high, the sea is very rough. The Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast winds of level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 2-4 m high.
In the evening and night of October 20, the area from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will have northeast to north winds gradually increasing to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 3-5 m high.
Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect the operation of ships and other activities.
