According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this afternoon (October 19), the cold air mass is approaching the northern border of our country.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecast Department of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the evening and night of October 19, cold air will have a weak impact on the weather in the Northeast region of the North.
"From October 20 to 22, the cold air will be strengthened, affecting other places in the Northeast and North Central regions, then affecting some places in the Northwest and Central Central regions. Under the impact of cold air, we believe that from October 20 onwards, the northern provinces will have a clear drop in temperature" - Mr. Huong analyzed the development of cold air.
On land from October 20, the wind will shift to northeast level 2 - 3, coastal areas level 3 - 4.
Mr. Huong said that from the night of October 20, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa will have cold nights and mornings, and the mountainous areas will be cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the Northern Delta and Thanh Hoa is generally 19 - 21 degrees Celsius, in mountainous and midland areas of the North 17 - 19 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas below 16 degrees Celsius.
"In the North, we believe that there will still be sunshine during the day, so the temperature during the day will be around 27 - 28 degrees Celsius. The cold and frost only occur at night and in the morning, and during the day it will be dry weather" - Mr. Huong said.
The meteorological agency has also provided detailed temperatures for the next 2 days in the North as follows:
Night of October 19 and October 20: The Northeast region has the lowest temperature of 21 - 24 degrees Celsius, high mountainous areas have places below 20 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is 25 - 27 degrees Celsius, mountainous areas have places below 25 degrees Celsius.
Night of October 20 and October 21: The Northeast and Thanh Hoa regions have the lowest temperature of 19 - 21 degrees Celsius, high mountainous areas have places below 18 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is 23 - 25 degrees Celsius, mountainous areas have places below 21 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, due to the characteristics of the Central region, due to the influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, on the night of October 19, in the area from Nghe An to Quang Ngai, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain; from October 20, there will be rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on steep slopes; heavy rain in a short period of time can cause flooding in urban areas and industrial parks. The cold weather at night and in the morning can affect people's health.
Regarding the impact at sea, according to the representative of the meteorological agency, due to the influence of cold air combined with the circulation of the Fengshen storm, the northern East Sea area has strong northeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8, rough seas; the eastern sea area has strong winds of level 6 - 7, the area near the storm center has strong winds of level 8-10, gusting to level 12, very rough seas, waves 2 - 6 m high. From early morning and on October 20, in the Gulf of Tonkin, there will be northeast winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8, rough seas, waves 2 - 4 m high.
Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect the operation of ships and other activities.
