Urgently handle landslide points before the rainy season
In mid-July, on Prenn Pass - the gateway to Da Lat, workers and machinery are urgently removing soil and rocks, leveling the positive taluy to eliminate the risk of landslides when heavy rain occurs.

According to the construction unit, handling is facing many difficulties due to the steep hilly terrain, and machinery is difficult to access. However, progress is still being accelerated to complete soon, limiting soil and rocks from spilling onto the road.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trung, who regularly travels through Prenn Pass, said that landslides in the rainy season last year were still a concern for many drivers. People hope that dangerous points will be completely resolved before the peak rainy season.
Not only Prenn Pass, key traffic routes such as National Highway 20, National Highway 27, National Highway 28, National Highway 28B and D'ran, Gia Bac, Song Pha passes... are also being reviewed and reinforced to reduce the risk of landslides.

According to the Fire and Rescue Police Department of Lam Dong Province, the whole province currently has 505 points at risk of natural disasters, including 127 flooded areas and 378 areas at risk of landslides and subsidence.
In the K'No 5 resettlement area (Dam Rong 4 commune), many cracks on the mountainside continue to widen after each rain, causing people to always be worried.
Meanwhile, the emergency project to handle landslides on National Highway 28, the section through Gia Bac Pass, is being implemented with a total cost of about 70 billion VND to ensure traffic before the rainy season.
Proactively prevent and minimize damage
After the heavy damage of the 2025 rainy season, Lam Dong determined to strongly shift from "response" thinking to "proactive prevention".

In 2025, the whole province recorded 38 heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning and strong winds, killing 17 people and injuring 21 people. Natural disasters affected more than 20,000 houses, nearly 27,800 hectares of crops and many traffic and irrigation works. Total damage is estimated at about 1,840 billion VND.
According to the Lam Dong Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, in July 2026, the locality will continue to have the possibility of localized heavy rain, thunderstorms, and tornadoes; and will also be affected by storms and tropical depressions in the East Sea, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides.
Since the beginning of June, the Provincial Department of Construction has issued a plan to prevent, combat and overcome the consequences of natural disasters for the transportation system.

Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province - said that units are implementing the motto "4 on-site", "3 readiness", strengthening weather monitoring, preparing human resources, materials and diversion plans at points at high risk of landslides.
Localities are also required to review residential areas in dangerous areas, update the list of households at risk to be ready to evacuate when necessary.
By mid-July, many landslide points on Prenn Pass, Mimosa Pass, Gia Bac Pass and National Highway 27C have been basically handled.
Standing Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen requested departments, branches and localities to urgently complete the handling of existing landslide points, ensure smooth traffic, and at the same time absolutely not be subjective or negligent.
According to Mr. Yen, the highest goal is to protect the safety of life, health and property of people, proactively prevent to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
