During the hot days of late April, when I was present at the Hai - Ha - Thu dike, watching dozens of hectares of mangrove forests in Ky Ha commune die, I felt even hotter.
Some local people who are going snailry along the coast of Ky Ha commune said that this mangrove forest area has been dead in large numbers since around 2022 but has not seen the implementation of new afforestation.
The incident caused a significant decrease in aquatic resources, affecting the livelihood of the people. In addition, the dead mangrove forests lose their protective effects, causing strong storms and waves during the rainy season, risking damage to the Hai - Ha - Thu vulnerable dike.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Ha commune - said that due to the decades of mangrove forests in Ky Ha being destroyed, the locality has proposed that all levels consider investing in planting new forests to replace them.
The purpose is to ensure ecological environmental balance, develop aquatic resources and protect the Hai - Ha - Thu vulnerable sea dyke.
Mr. Dao Duc Giang - Head of the Forest Protection Department of Ky Anh town - said that according to the count, since 2022, the area along the coast of Ky Ha commune has had more than 25 hectares of dead mangrove forests, mainly sea fish sauce.
According to Mr. Dao Duc Giang, the reason for the mangroves at the seaport of Ky Ha commune died, the unit was initially identifying the likelihood of soil and climate. Because, this area rises for a long time, high salinity, exceeding the threshold ...
However, to conclude the exact cause, it is necessary for leading experts in the field of forestry and mangrove forests to conduct field surveys, research, assessment, experimentation, and scientific evidence.
According to the Head of the Forest Protection Department of Ky Anh Town, in recent times, the unit has also coordinated to implement a project to plant mangrove trees such as garden trees in the coastal areas of Ky Ha Commune and Ky Ninh Ward.
The planting location near the mangrove forest had died before but was not successful. Many of the planted trees have died, so the project is left unused.
The concern, according to Mr. Giang, at the same time and with the project to pilot the planting of mangrove trees in the Cua Sot bridge area (Ha Tinh province), the trees will still live steadily and develop well.

Therefore, the unit and locality have recommended that competent authorities invite experts with professional capacity to study and clarify the cause of the mass death of mangrove trees in Ky Ha commune.
Then, implement a project to replant mangrove trees suitable for soil conditions, for good growth and development efficiency to ensure the ecosystem and be a place to develop local aquatic resources.
