Landslides, deep flooding in many localities
In the afternoon of September 23, due to prolonged heavy rain in Tan Phu hamlet, Phu Thuy village, Phan Ri Cua commune, a landslide occurred about 40m long and 20m wide.
There are no households living in this area, so no casualties or property damage was recorded.
In Ham Liem commune, heavy rain lasted from the night of September 22nd, causing the water level of streams to rise, with the risk of overflowing into people's houses. A civil bridge built by people themselves in group 8, Thuan Thang village is at risk of collapsing.
The forces have organized duty shifts, stretched warning ropes and supported people to move property out of flood-prone areas.
In Cat Tien commune, heavy rain caused soil and rocks from the hill area in hamlet 5 to landslide down to DT721 route, the section into the commune center. About 10m3 of soil and rocks spilled onto the road, causing traffic congestion.
Functional forces of Cat Tien commune planted signs, hung warning ropes and guided vehicles to circulate.
The landslide point is still showing signs of continuing, functional forces are monitoring to have a handling plan.
At the underground culvert on National Highway 55, passing through Bao Lam 3 commune, water is still more than 1m deep, flowing swiftly, causing traffic to be cut off.
Bao Lam 3 commune forces maintain duty at 22/24 hours to regulate and guide people and vehicles to go in other directions.
Many roads are landslides, trees are fallen
In the afternoon of September 23, Gia Bac Pass on National Highway 28, passing through Son Dien commune, a serious landslide occurred. Hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rock spilled onto the road surface, causing traffic through the pass to be paralyzed in both directions. The landslide did not cause any casualties.
From September 21, at Km6 of DT715 route in Ham Thuan commune, soil and sand from both sides of the road overflowed, causing mud and flooding.
Ham Thuan Bac Traffic Police (CSGT) team coordinated with Commune Police to divert traffic and guide vehicles to move safely.
In the Sen forest area, about Km4 of the Ham Minh - Thuan Quy route, Ham Thuan Nam commune, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds caused many trees to fall and block the road. Traffic police coordinated with the Forest Management Board to clean up and clear the road surface.
On DT722 route, at Km15+500 and Km15+700, Lang Biang ward - Da Lat, 2 landslide points and nearly ten pine trees fell onto the road were recorded. Traffic police coordinated with forces to cut down trees and handle fallen power poles. Currently, vehicles are circulating normally.
Faced with complicated weather diễn biến, Lam Dong traffic police continue to strengthen patrols, promptly detect and warn of flooded spots, landslides, fallen trees, and soil and rocks spilling onto the road.
According to statistics from the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command, from September 20 to 22, natural disasters caused damage of more than 3.5 billion VND.
Functional agencies recommend that people when participating in traffic in heavy rain should reduce speed, maintain a safe distance, pay attention to observation and do not intentionally pass through deep flooded areas, fast-flowing water or risk of landslides.
When detecting an incident causing traffic unsafety, people need to notify the functional forces for timely support and handling.
