The floods in early September seriously affected the transport infrastructure of Lao Cai province.
Up to now, many new routes have only been cleared in step 1 for people to move, the rest are still in the process of being repaired.
In late November, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters were present on Provincial Road 156 running from Trinh Tuong Commune to A Mu Sung Commune to record the landslide situation along the riverbank.

According to observations, there are many landslides along the riverbank on this road. Some landslides have even eaten deep into the edge of the asphalt road. This poses a potential traffic safety risk for people traveling.
In addition, the landslide caused the road's negative slope to collapse, exposing the iron railing pile system. The situation will become unpredictable if it rains heavily and for a long time.
Having to travel regularly on Provincial Road 156, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (residing in Trinh Tuong commune) said: “Landslides are becoming more and more serious after heavy rains and floods. The riverbanks are eroding and are increasingly eroding, causing the road to slide into the river if there is no quick solution. At this time, it is extremely dangerous for people to travel through eroded sections of road.”

According to some residents, the riverbank erosion could cause nearby roads to crack, sink, and deteriorate over time. Traveling through this area, especially at night, would be very dangerous because there are no street lights.
Mr. Lu Van Giang (residing in A Mu Sung commune) said that many sections of Provincial Road 156 are very difficult to travel at night, and on rainy days the possibility of slipping and accidents is also high. Although there are ropes along the landslide areas, people hope that the authorities will soon fix them to make travel safer.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Chairman of the People's Committee of A Mu Sung Commune, Lu A Hoa, said: "The floods caused landslides in many places on Provincial Road 156 running through the commune, posing a potential risk of accidents for road users. In particular, because it is located next to the riverbank, the risk of further landslides is very high."
According to Mr. Lu A Hoa, this road has no lights, and this winter there is a lot of fog at night. To ensure traffic safety, the commune authorities have reminded people to be careful when traveling through landslide areas.
Along with that, the province's road maintenance unit also temporarily filled the landslide site and stretched reflective ropes to ensure safer travel.
