On January 6, Nam Thanh Commune Police (Lam Dong province) said that the unit had just received a pig-tailed monkey voluntarily handed over by people to hand over to the forest rangers to release back into the forest.
Previously, Mr. Mai Xuan Lanh (born in 1984, residing in DaKai 8 hamlet, Nam Thanh commune) when going to the garden behind his house discovered a monkey caught in a net in the chicken coop area.
Realizing that this was a wild animal, Mr. Lanh brought the monkey to the headquarters of Nam Thanh Commune Police to hand over, and at the same time expressed his wish that the functional forces would soon release the monkey back to the natural forest.

According to functional agencies, the individual handed over is a pig-tailed macaque, belonging to the Macaca family. This is a wild animal species that has been included in the Vietnam Red Book since 2000 and is on the List of endangered, precious, and rare species that need to be prioritized for protection according to the provisions of law.
After receiving it, Nam Thanh Commune Police reported to the inter-sectoral working group of the Commune People's Committee, and at the same time coordinated with Tanh Linh - Duc Linh Forest Protection Department to inspect the health status of the monkey individual. Through initial inspection, the monkey individual was healthy and qualified to be released back to the natural environment.

Functional forces have completed dossiers and procedures according to regulations and organized the release of monkeys into the forest in the sub-area under the Duc Linh Protection Forest Management Board.
According to Nam Thanh Commune Police, Mr. Mai Xuan Lanh's voluntary act of handing over wildlife shows a sense of law compliance, a sense of responsibility in wildlife protection and contributes to spreading community awareness about biodiversity conservation in the area.
