Together we turn the landfill into a colorful playground for children

Volunteer group Keep Vietnam Clean and Think Playgrounds Hanoi turn a giant landfill into a colorful playground for children.

The playground in Group 1, Phuc Tan Ward, Long Bien District, Hanoi is one of the areas most severely affected by storm No. 3. Tons of mud, garbage and fallen trees have turned the place into a desolate wasteland, no longer a playground for children. The place that used to be bustling with laughter is now deserted, with piles of garbage and sand.

However, in this seemingly abandoned area, a miracle happened. Determined to bring a green, clean and safe space for children, members of the Keep Vietnam Clean and Think Playgrounds groups started the renovation work. Not only is it a simple act of environmental protection, they have turned this place into a forest park with a vibrant and colorful space.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Phuong - Head of the Keep Vietnam Clean project team - said: "Responding to the spirit of environmental protection, the Keep Vietnam Clean team has attracted hundreds of volunteers to clean up the children's playground and the Red River bank in Phuc Tan ward. Due to the large amount of stuck waste, the work took two days to complete. However, the journey to clean up the Red River bank still has many challenges ahead. The team hopes that people will raise awareness about environmental pollution, especially the harmful effects of plastic waste".

Reusing old items or creating a new life for discarded products is an effective way to reduce waste in the environment. Pham Minh Duc - a member of the Think Playgrounds group - has cleverly turned broken glass into colorful and creative murals, bringing new life to public spaces.

"These funny paintings are not only decorative but also carry a message about creativity and recycling, turning waste into art. The old walls are now bright like a big picture, where every child finds joy" - Mr. Duc said.

From a lifeless landfill, Think Playgrounds has renovated a playground of more than 1,000 square meters with colorful walls and creative models appearing everywhere, attracting attention and bringing new joy to children in the heart of the city.

To protect the environment against climate change, the act of cleaning up trash is a vivid demonstration of the spirit of solidarity for a green life. Not only stopping at renovating the playground in Phuc Tan, this story also sends a profound message: Everyone needs to raise awareness of recycling, limit the use of plastic bags and disposable items, contributing to creating a clean and beautiful life for everyone.
