Recently, the Department of Hematology in coordination with the Social Work Committee, Central Military Hospital 108 and the 0-dong service car team organized the program "0-dong bus trip - Full of love", supporting a patient from Son La who is in particularly difficult circumstances to return to his locality after a period of treatment at the hospital.
Previously, the patient was admitted to the hospital in a state of fever, shortness of breath, severe fatigue, and many red patches on the skin of the head and face. After examination, doctors diagnosed the patient with widespread pneumonia, oral Candida infection, immunodeficiency and psoriasis. After a period of intensive treatment, the patient's health has stabilized and is eligible to be transferred to lower levels for continued monitoring and treatment.
Doctors said that the patient is of Thai ethnicity, with particularly difficult economic circumstances. Not only facing illness, the family also faces a lot of pressure regarding treatment and travel costs. The hundreds of kilometers from Hanoi to Son La along with the cost of renting a specialized vehicle exceeds the family's ability to pay.
Understanding the patient's circumstances, the collective of doctors and nurses of the Blood Transmitted Diseases Department proactively connected with the hospital's Social Work Committee to find support solutions. Immediately after receiving the information, the Social Work Committee mobilized the companionship of the 0 VND service car team. In just a short time, all expenses for transporting patients by specialized vehicles from Central Military Hospital 108 to Son La were supported free of charge.
Moved by the help of doctors and philanthropists, the patient's wife shared that if there was no free bus, the family would not know how to manage to take her husband back to her hometown for further treatment. She expressed her gratitude to the collective of medical staff, nurses and the Social Work Committee of Central Military Hospital 108 for always caring and supporting the family throughout the treatment period.
Not only this patient's case, for many years, Central Military Hospital 108 has implemented many "meaningful trips", supporting patients in difficult circumstances to return to their hometowns or be transferred to safe treatment. These activities contribute to sharing difficulties with patients, adding motivation for them to continue to overcome illness.
