In June 2025, the National Assembly approved amending and supplementing the 2013 Constitution. Article 10 of the Constitution stipulates: Vietnam Trade Union is a socio-political organization of the working class and of workers; represents, cares for and protects the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers; is the only representative of workers at the national level in labor relations and international trade unions; participates in State management, socio-economic management; participates in inspecting, inspecting and supervising the activities of State agencies, organizations, units and enterprises on issues related to the rights and obligations of workers; propagating and mobilizing workers to study, improve their qualifications and professional skills, comply with the law, and build and protect the Fatherland.
The Constitution (amended) affirms the irreplaceable role of Vietnam Trade Union in the new context. In particular, in the context of the country entering the development stage, the requirement for innovation and innovation in thinking is not only an order from practice but also a strategic orientation of the Party.
As a national representative organization for the working class and laborers, the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is playing a core role in concretizing the spirit of major Resolutions of the Party, including Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
For more than 96 years, the Vietnam Trade Union has been closely associated with workers, being a reliable support in protecting legitimate rights and interests. In the digital age, the task of the Trade Union cannot stop at caring for material life but must reach a new vision: Improving skills, fostering intelligence, building cultural courage and creativity for workers.
The Draft Political Report of the 13th Party Central Committee at the 14th National Congress of the Party stated one of the key tasks: "Using science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as the main driving force to improve productivity, efficiency, added value and competitiveness of the economy".
With the role and position of the Trade Union organization being increasingly consolidated, the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor clearly identified one of the three breakthroughs of the 2025-2030 term as innovation in thinking and vision to continue to play a pioneering role in the period of industrialization and modernization associated with digital transformation.
The Party Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is an opportunity to affirm the position of the Trade Union in the political system, affirming the stature of a socio-political organization representing the rights and interests of tens of millions of union members and workers who are ready to move towards a new era, an era of national growth.
