The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 378/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long on the second facility of Viet Duc Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the two hospitals be put into use before November 30 to serve the work of caring for and protecting people's health, not to let it go to waste, while improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.
These two projects were built at the end of 2014 and are expected to be completed in 2017. However, both hospitals are abandoned and are a huge waste.
Local people are looking forward to these two hospitals being completed and put into operation, so that patients do not have to go to Hanoi for treatment. But for the past 8 years, the hospital has been abandoned and increasingly degraded, making people extremely disappointed.
There have been many instructions from the Government, but they have not been implemented on schedule.
The most recent time was at the regular Government press conference in October 2024 held on the afternoon of November 9, 2024, Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son said that the Prime Minister had requested that in the next 6 months, the Ministry of Health must complete the second facility of these two hospitals and put them into use with great determination.
If the above requirements are followed, the second facility of Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals will be operational in May 2025. But we have to "ment away".
This time, we must consider the Deputy Prime Minister's direction as "ultimatum", there is no way back.
Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals, Facility 2, will not only be put into operation to complete facilities and machinery, but more importantly, human resources. If there are not enough good doctors and medical staff, then no matter how modern the hospital is, it is useless.
It is expected that the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital alone, when put into comprehensive operation, will need about 1,200 medical staff, including about 300 doctors.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital - once affirmed: "We are determined to build the second facility not as a separate unit but as an extension of Bach Mai Hospital, maintaining professional quality and synchronous techniques".
Recently, the Department of Investigation Police on Economic Crimes, Corruption, and Smuggling has prosecuted the case and prosecuted the accused at the investment project to build Viet Duc Hospital, Bach Mai, Facility 2, of which 5 defendants were prosecuted, 4 defendants are leaders of the Management Board of Key Economic Projects, Ministry of Health.
Law enforcement agencies will investigate and clarify and handle violators. But the immediate goal is that these two hospitals must operate and serve patients, not letting the project continue to be abandoned and wasted.
