"Red Rain" is a film recreating history and war. The film depicts the fierceness of the war, where so much pain and loss occurred in Quang Tri during the bombing period. The film's setting is set on the banks of the Thach Han River. After the film finished filming, the production unit expressed its desire to donate the film set to the province as a destination for tourism exploitation.
However, a survey has shown that this film set is just a messy hill, with trees and breeches, fallen walls, and shabby items... Not to mention, this is a low-lying area, constantly flooded, so Quang Tri has refused to accept and request the producer to return the site before March 15.
Taking advantage of film studios to have more attractions and attract tourism is not new. From the film "I see yellow flowers on green grass" ( shoots filmed in Phu Yen), the film set "Kong: Skull Island" in Ninh Binh or just the lonely copper plantation in the corn fields of Hue after the film " Mat Biec"... have become new tourist destinations, attracting visitors. The positive impacts on the local culture and tourism after these films were released are very clear. The tourism industry and local authorities also have policies, investments, and incentives to protect and promote film studios, places that used to be film locations... to stimulate tourism and develop the economy.
Looking abroad, the set of "Winter Love Story" has also turned Nami Island into a symbol of Korean tourism, attracting millions of visitors each year and contributing to promoting Korean culture to the world...
However, not every film studio has a new tourist attraction. Cinema is not a "magic stick" that can turn everything into gold. It is only valuable when it meets the basic factors of tourism such as beautiful landscapes, good infrastructure, and professional services.
"Red Rain" depicts war, depicting devastation and loss. It has historical and cultural value, but to turn it into an attractive tourist destination, attracting tourists to visit and experience is a difficult problem, especially in places with flooded terrain, desolate landscapes, makeshift, dilapidated works... All of that cannot create a quality tourism product. Not to mention, Quang Tri ancient citadel with vivid historical remains still exists.
Quang Tri province has chosen not to "hold" a location with high maintenance and repair costs, and decided to force it to return to its current state, focusing on its inherent tourism potential.
