On November 15, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities decided to cancel the graduation recognition and revoke the bachelor's degree of Ms. Dao Thi Bich Thuy, working at Kinh Bac University.
Ms. Dao Thi Bich Thuy was recognized for her graduation and was awarded a bachelor's degree in Literature from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2000.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities determined that Ms. Dao Thi Bich Thuy was ineligible because she violated the conditions for taking the university entrance exam as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 4 of the Regulations on admission to the regular training system in universities, colleges and vocational secondary schools issued under Decision No. 461 dated February 11, 1991 of the Minister of Education and Training.
The revocation of Ms. Dao Thi Bich Thuy’s bachelor’s degree shows that there are still many errors in university admissions. Allowing students to finish their studies, receive their diplomas, and then discover fraud in their admissions records many years later is unacceptable.
But if there are mistakes, they must be corrected, violations must be strictly handled, and degrees must be revoked or canceled in accordance with the law. At the same time, disciplinary action must be taken against individuals involved in the violations.
Not to mention, there are cases where it is not due to innocent mistakes, but the people involved intentionally let the records not comply with regulations slip through the records. That is negativity, deceit, and intentional wrongdoing.
Recently, Mr. Vuong Tan Viet was discovered to have used an illegal high school diploma. The Ministry of Education and Training has requested relevant higher education institutions to urgently revoke the diploma granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet in accordance with the law, and to review the training organization process to avoid similar cases.
It is called training facilities because Mr. Vuong Tan Viet has many degrees, a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Foreign Languages (now Hanoi University); a bachelor's degree in Law and a doctorate in Law from Hanoi Law University.
The above training institutions need to make a decision and publicly announce the revocation of Mr. Vuong Van Viet's degree, just as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities decided to cancel the graduation recognition and revoke the bachelor's degree of Ms. Dao Thi Bich Thuy.
Reviewing and handling lies are a way to rectify the academic environment.
