On October 30, Military Hospital 175 held a conference to summarize the program of transferring kidney removal and transplant techniques and deploy the plan to transfer liver removal and transplant techniques from Military Central Hospital 108.
Dr. Tran Quoc Viet - Director of Military Hospital 175 said that the success of the transfer of kidney transplant techniques has pushed the hospital's specialties to a new level. The results of medical examination and treatment at the outpatient and inpatient hospitals have both increased.
This conference is a milestone, taking the momentum from the success of kidney transplantation to open a new stage in training and transferring surgical techniques for liver removal and transplantation between the 108 Military Central Hospital and the 175 Military Hospital.
Kidney and liver transplants in particular and organ transplants in general are most important sources of organ donors, especially brain-dead donors.
Previously, in July 2023, with the professional support of Military Central Hospital 108, the first kidney transplant was successfully performed at Military Hospital 175.
To date, Military Hospital 175 has mastered this technique, successfully performing 22 kidney removal and transplant surgeries.
Following the success of kidney removal and transplant surgery, from March 2024 to present, Military Hospital 175 has sent 62 staff members from professional, coordination, legal and security teams to study and transfer liver removal and transplant surgery techniques at Military Central Hospital 108.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Song - Director of 108 Central Military Hospital said that the unit will try to transfer technology and quickly help Military Hospital 175 perform the first liver transplant as soon as possible.
