HCMC - On November 9, a clip was circulated on social media recording a group of people holding knives and scissors surrounding a technology taxi, threatening and assaulting the driver.

According to the clip, a group of four men argued with a male tech taxi driver about the fare. Then, one of the men approached the car door, grabbed the driver by the collar and punched him in the face. When the driver resisted, another man continued to punch him in the head.

Not stopping there, one of the group also brought a knife and scissors to talk to and challenge the male driver. Discovering the incident, many people and hospital security came to stop it, but the male driver left immediately afterwards.

According to the investigation, Mr. B.N.M.N (born in 2000) is the technology taxi driver in the clip. The incident happened on November 3 on Phu Chau Street, in front of Thu Duc City Hospital, Tam Phu Ward, Thu Duc City.

At around 3pm the same day, Mr. N received an order to transport 5 passengers (including 4 men and 1 woman) in Binh Thanh District. At that time, the person booking the car chose a 4-hour service with a maximum distance of 50km. The male driver reconfirmed with the passenger before departing.

When the car had gone about 10km, in front of Thu Duc City Hospital, the group asked to stop the car. The male driver asked the passenger if he wanted to go further, the passenger said no.

At this time, Mr. N quoted the service price according to the car company's application as 700,000 VND, and the group immediately started arguing. The male driver then continuously explained and called the operator to recalculate the fare, but the group still attacked him.

After the operator reported the service fee, a man in the group paid 165,000 VND to the male driver.

Tam Phu Ward Police have received information about the incident, this unit is verifying and inviting related people to work.
