People are still reluctant to go for examination
At the launching ceremony in Hoa Binh commune, Ca Mau, many people took the opportunity to come for medical examination and receive free medicine from the medical team of Le Van Thinh Hospital (HCMC). The program organized 300 screening sessions and free medicine distribution, starting immediately after the launching ceremony.
Mr. Lam Van Tuan (68 years old, Lang Giai hamlet, Hoa Binh commune) said that in recent days he often has aches and pains, insomnia but does not know the cause, so he came for examination.
These days I have aches in my body, I can't sleep, I don't know what disease it is, so today I went for an examination to see what's going on. I have rarely gone for medical examinations before, if it's mild, I buy medicine myself, if it's very serious, I go to the hospital. Today I heard that medical examinations and free medicine are given, so I went" - Mr. Tuan said.
In the same hamlet, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (70 years old) believes that free medical examination and medicine distribution helps people, especially the elderly, have more conditions to detect diseases early.
Now that I am old, everyone is sick. If I don't detect the serious illness early, it will make me and my children suffer" - Ms. Hoa shared.
According to Hoa Binh Commune People's Committee, the number of people participating in health check-ups and screenings in the area is currently just over 33,500 people, reaching about 50.7%. A part of the people are still busy working and producing, do not have the habit of periodic check-ups or have a mentality of only going for check-ups when symptoms appear.
Speed up screening within 45 days
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan emphasized that health is a precious asset, the province strives to have 100% of people undergo health check-ups and screenings by the end of October 2026. Today, the whole province simultaneously launched health check-ups and screenings for people. Ca Mau always pays attention to people's health, and vice versa, people also need to coordinate with medical facilities to take care of their health, especially their own initial health.
To complete the goal, Chairman of Hoa Binh Commune People's Committee Do Ai Lam requested the Health Station to coordinate with Le Van Thinh Hospital to organize examinations for people; after the launching ceremony, continue to coordinate with Hoa Binh General Hospital and related units to deploy examinations throughout the commune.
The Department of Culture and Social Affairs advises on plans to organize examinations in hamlets, and at the same time deploy home examinations for special cases that do not have the conditions to go for examination.
Departments, branches, unions, and hamlet People's Committees are required to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to participate; pay attention to supporting the elderly, the poor, vulnerable and people in remote areas to access health services.
The 45-day peak period is expected not only to increase the number of people examined and screened but also to form a habit of proactive health check-ups, early detection of diseases and risk factors in the community.
