On May 18, the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital announced that the unit had just coordinated with the Tam Long Viet Fund (Vietnam Television), Viettel Group and E Hanoi Hospital to organize a free congenital heart screening program for children in Quang Binh province.
The program is part of the "Heart for Children" campaign, aiming to detect and support early treatment of cases of congenital heart disease, especially children from poor families and those in difficult circumstances.
After two days of implementation, doctors have screened 690 children from newborns to under 18 years old, in which 71 cases of congenital heart disease were detected. Specifically, 28 students were indicated for early intervention and surgery, the remaining 43 cases continue to be monitored. The total estimated funding for this period is up to nearly 1.5 billion VND.
The subjects are children with suspected signs of congenital heart disease such as rapid breathing, prolonged wheezing, purple lips - fingertips, slow growth, fatigue or sweating while feeding and moving. Cases that are determined to require surgery and are in difficult circumstances will be supported by the cost program.
A representative of the Tam Long Viet Fund said that up to now, the "Heart for Children" program has supported successful surgeries for more than 7,600 children with congenital heart disease nationwide, and organized more than 110 screening sessions for about 175,000 children.
The program continues to spread the message of humanity, bringing healthy living opportunities to thousands of disadvantaged children across the localities.
