Enjoy in moderation
When eating candy, we need to pay attention to the amount of added sugar. The American Heart Association recommends consuming no more than 25 grams of added sugar per day for women and no more than 36 grams per day for men.
Focus on portion control and frequency, whether you choose sugar-free or sugary candy. This way, you'll be able to control your snacking without going over your recommended sugar or carbohydrate intake.
Be careful with sugar alcohols
Also check the nutrition label, paying attention to the sugar alcohols in the candy. The sugar alcohol content is usually listed in grams on the nutrition facts label, under the total carbohydrates section.
Watch out for saturated fats
Consuming too much saturated fat can raise your cholesterol levels; limit it to no more than 6% of your total daily calories.
Also, choose a candy that you enjoy so you won't be tempted to overeat.
