In the face of increasing cases of medical staff being assaulted while on duty, the Ministry of Health has just sent a document to the Ministry of Public Security requesting coordination to strengthen security and order in medical examination and treatment facilities nationwide.
According to reports from hospitals, from the beginning of 2025 to now, there have been 6 cases of medical staff being attacked while caring for and treating patients. Many cases are serious and cause public outrage. Most notably is the case of a patient's family assaulting a nurse at the Neonatal Department, Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital on October 23, 2025.
The Ministry of Health stated that the acts of assaulting medical staff not only directly threaten the lives and health of doctors, nurses and other patients, but also cause insecurity in the hospital, psychological damage and reduce the spirit of the medical team.
To strengthen the work of ensuring security and order in the coming time and effectively implement the Coordination Regulation No. 03/QCPH-BCA-BYT between the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health requests the Ministry of Public Security to direct local police to coordinate and support hospitals in implementing a number of key contents:
Strengthen forces and support means, apply technical solutions, effectively manage and operate surveillance camera systems, and alarm systems that are directly connected to the nearest police agency, in order to proactively prevent and promptly handle situations that cause insecurity and disorder.
Organize drills on hospital safety protection plans, especially in high-risk departments such as emergency care, resuscitation, newborough... to proactively respond to all situations.
Closely coordinate in verifying, investigating and strictly handling subjects who assault and threaten medical staff to increase deterrence and protect the legitimate rights and interests of medical practitioners.
The Ministry of Health affirms that ensuring a safe and secure environment in hospitals is a key factor for patients to feel secure in treatment and medical staff to work with peace of mind, contributing to improving the quality of people's health care.
