On April 26, Dr. Vo Thanh Dung - Deputy Director of Phu Quoc City Medical Center (Kien Giang) said that the Center is directing functional departments to investigate the epidemic to determine the patients hospitalized for suspected mushroom poisoning.
Previously, on April 25, Phu Quoc City Medical Center received many people for emergency care in pain, vomiting and coma.
Through examination and initial diagnosis, he was suspected of food poisoning due to eating strange mushrooms. The medical center has transferred 3 cases with signs of seriousness to Kien Giang General Hospital, the remaining patients are still being treated at Phu Quoc City Medical Center.
Mr. Dung also informed that there were two groups hospitalized to the center after eating mushrooms, the above patients were staying in Cua Duong and Bai Thom communes.
The Phu Quoc City Medical Center also recommends that people should not pick or use wild mushrooms in the wild, even if they look like familiar mushrooms. Many types of mushrooms are not strange in taste and are easily confused with erable mushrooms.
