One of the reasons for the accumulation of visceral fat is the habit of eating at the wrong time, especially in the evening.
According to Dr. Michael Jensen, an endocrinologist at the Mayo Clinic (USA): The body tends to burn calories more slowly at night. Eating a lot of foods rich in sugar, starch or fat before bed will easily cause excess energy to accumulate into visceral fat".
Here are the groups of foods to limit in the evening:
fried foods high in oil
French fries, fried chicken or fast food are high in saturated fat. Eating late at night can easily cause indigestion, and bad fat accumulates in the abdomen.
Refined starch
White rice, white bread or instant noodles cause blood sugar to increase rapidly. At night, there is little exercise, and excess energy will be converted to fat.
Sweet foods and desserts high in sugar
carbonated cakes, ice cream, and soft drinks not only increase visceral fat but also affect sleep quality.
Fatty red meat
Beef and pork belly are high in calories and saturated fat. Eating a lot in the evening puts pressure on the digestive system, easily leading to visceral fat accumulation.
Alcohol
Alcohol slows down the fat burning process, while promoting fatty liver accumulation.
Experts recommend that dinner should be light with green vegetables, lean protein (fish, chicken breast, tofu) and a little whole grain. The ideal time to eat is 2-3 hours before bed so that the body has time to digest.
