Dien Bien - On the morning of August 2, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the Director of the Department of Health said that the health sector is focusing all the best resources to rescue victims in flooded areas.

According to Mr. Pham Giang Nam - Director of the Department of Health of Dien Bien province, on the evening of August 1 - right after bringing 3 seriously ill patients to the Provincial General Hospital (PHP), the leaders of the Department of Health came to encourage the family and direct the examination and treatment of the patients.

"The health sector is focusing all the best resources to treat patients. In particular, 1 patient with liver rupture is being treated at the General Surgery Department and 2 patients have undergone emergency surgery" - Mr. Pham Giang Nam said.

In addition to the two main medical facilities that are receiving and treating patients, the Provincial General Hospital and Dien Bien Dong Medical Center, the health sector also sent mobile health teams to directly be present in the flooded areas. This force is ready to support, provide first aid when detecting the victim and transfer them to medical facilities for further treatment.

On August 1, when receiving information from the maternity family asking for help on social networks, the medical team quickly arrived and promptly supported Ms. Giang Thi P, who was pregnant and had signs of premature birth. After the support and monitoring process, by the morning of August 2, Ms. Giang Thi P (24 years old), pregnant for the fourth time, had given birth safely.

According to the latest report from the Dien Bien Department of Health, as of 8:00 a.m. on August 2, the prolonged heavy rain causing landslides and flash floods has killed 7 people, 3 people are missing and 7 people are injured. In which: Tia Dinh Commune has 3 deaths and 5 injuries; Xa Dung Commune has 4 deaths, 2 injuries and 3 missing people.

The flood also caused a lot of damage to property, crops, traffic works, and infrastructure. The initial estimated damage is about 100 billion VND.

In recent days, floods and landslides in the North Central and Northern mountainous provinces have killed and left many people missing, houses, schools and maple blossoms were swept away and submerged in mud, affecting local production activities.
