The Golden Heart Social Support Fund joins hands to rebuild the roofs of houses for people who lost their homes due to flash floods

PHAN TUẤN |

Dak Lak - The Golden Heart Social Charity Fund has supported 50 million VND for 10 families whose houses were swept away by flash floods to overcome difficulties and recovery after the flood.

Thank you to the Golden Heart Social Support Fund for timely support

Yang Mao commune (old Krong Bong district) was the locality most severely affected by floods in November 2025. Here, 10 houses were completely swept away by floods or buried by rocks and soil, while 174 others were deeply flooded. The total damage to the whole commune is estimated at nearly 400 billion VND.

Mr. Vo Tan Truc - Chairman of Yang Mao Commune People's Committee - said that the commune has 3,465 households with 16,873 people including many ethnic groups such as Kinh, Tay, Nung, H'Mong, Thai, Muong, Van Kieu, Dao... Of which, the poverty rate is up to more than 52%.

"The recent flood caused many households to fall into a situation of being left empty-handed, losing all their assets accumulated for life," Mr. Truc shared.

In the spirit of mutual love, the Golden Heart Social Support Fund visited, encouraged and presented a part of the financial support to 10 households whose houses were buried by rocks and soil or swept away by floods, each household worth 5 million VND to help the families overcome difficulties soon.

Mr. Hoang Van Hieu - a household in Yang Mao commune - was still shocked when recalling the moment dozens of tons of soil and rock suddenly collapsed from the hillside into his small house.

The house was built from the couple's loan, but everything was buried in just a few minutes. Therefore, Mr. Hieu's family has been living elsewhere for the past month.

"At this point, I don't know where to start. During the most difficult time, we received support from benefactors, including the Golden Heart Social and Cultural Fund. This has given my family great encouragement to have more support and motivation to stand up after a big incident, Mr. Hieu said emotionally.

Building new houses for people before Tet

Faced with the risk of landslides still existing, Mr. Vo Tan Truc - Chairman of Yang Mao Commune People's Committee - said that the whole commune still has 10 households living in a particularly dangerous area, where landslides can occur at any time.

To ensure long-term safety, the local government has mobilized households to temporarily request land from relatives to build new housing. However, the purchase of land and construction of houses for all 10 households exceeded the commune's budget capacity.

According to Mr. Truc, the People's Committee of Yang Mao commune has sent a document requesting the People's Committee of Dak Lak province to consider building a concentrated resettlement area for households that suffered heavy damage in the recent landslide.

The locality is urgently reviewing the extent of damage, finding safe and suitable land funds for resettlement, and continuing to call for support from organizations and individuals to help people soon stabilize their lives.

Thanks to the timely cooperation of the Golden Heart Social Support Fund - Lao Dong Newspaper, benefactors and the determination of the government, we aim to complete new housing for households before the Lunar New Year 2026, Mr. Vo Tan Truc emphasized.
