Apple is said to be about to launch a promising version of AirTag 2 this year - an upgrade that still maintains a compact design but brings many notable improvements for popular users.
The first highlight is the second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip, similar to the type of equipment on the iPhone 15 and later.
This new chip can trip the accurate positioning capabilities, raising the AI experience with AirTag from about 30m to 90m in ideal conditions.
Second, the AirTag 2 speakers are designed to be difficult to remove, helping to minimize cases of users taking advantage of them to illegally track others. In addition, the loudspeaker's sound level is also improved to make it easy to recognize when at a distance.
In terms of design, AirTag 2 still retains the small round shape, mechanical shell and IP67 waterproof standards as the current version - users will not notice any changes from the appearance.
It is likely that this technology accessory will be launched at the iPhone event in September this year. The expected selling price is still $29 for the single version, equivalent to the current version, or $99 for the 4- package, suitable for mass demand.
