On October 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health held a handover ceremony and received the hospital financial situation warning system (HFS).
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - said that after more than 1 year of ordering with the bank, the application helps the health sector and hospital directors have a better financial management tool. In fact, there have been hospitals that have "lost" debt, negative without knowing it.
This application is the first of its kind in the country. The initial stage is done. The next step is to use this tool effectively.
Using tools on a daily basis will change the way the hospital operates. Hospital financial management is good when each department participates and elevates it to the hospital's internal regulations.
Mr. Thuong also said that recently, the State Audit has reminded the city's health sector and hospitals to organize mandatory internal audit units according to regulations. This is a convenient tool for internal audit.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung - Director of Children's Hospital 1 - said that the most difficult and frightening thing about being a hospital director is finance. The thing that can easily lead to success but also has the highest risk is the issue of financial management.
Children's Hospital 1 is also the pilot unit implementing the application to warn about the hospital's financial situation. The hospital and other units are working on and editing the application. Currently, the application is still being refined because this is the first implementation.
The results achieved when piloting the application are to improve financial management efficiency; optimize resources and reduce costs; improve financial forecasting and support strategic decision making; enhance transparency and accountability; strengthen cash flow control and debt management.
Dr. Hung also gave notes on implementation including establishing data entry and information security regulations; regularly checking and comparing data; financial forecasting and early warning; continuous training and developing staff skills.
Hospital Financial System (HFS) optimizes hospital financial management through a dashboard platform and in-depth analytical reports.
In particular, the hospital's "financial health" overview report screen is optimized for the target users, namely the director and deputy director in charge of finance.
Accordingly, the report focuses on quickly and fully providing key financial management indicators of the hospital and is designed in the form of very intuitive green/yellow/red warnings to help the board of directors quickly identify issues that need attention in hospital financial management.
